State and Federal Lodging Per Diem Rates 

State of South Dakota lodging per diem  - Starting July 1, 2024. State Rate will be Federal Lodging per diem rate.  

5:01:02:14.  In-state per diem rates. Per diem rates for official in-state travel are as follows: 

(1)  The actual cost of lodging up to a maximum of $75 plus tax a day.

South Dakota Department of Health - Expedited follow-up inspection criteria  

The ability to request and receive an expedited follow-up inspection after a regular routine health inspection took effect July 1, 2013. In order to qualify for an expedited inspection, the following criteria must be met. Requests for expedited inspections not meeting these criteria will not be granted.  

  1. The most recent routine inspection score is 80 to 89. 
  2. The request must be made in writing and postmarked within 10 business days of the most recent routine inspection. 
  3. The expedited inspection fee of $100 must accompany the written request. 


Requests for expedited inspections shall be addressed to:

Expedited inspections will be conducted within 60 days of the date of request.  Expedited inspection scores will not replace previous inspection scores but will be posted along with previous results.  An expedited inspection may only be requested one time in any 2 year period.
